The PIPP-ESAS operates under the coordination of the School of Chemical Engineering in collaboration with the School of Mechanical Engineering.
Governing bodies of the PIPP-ESAS are the following (as per Law 4957/2022):
- The Senate of NTUA.
- The Program Studies Committee (PSC) of the PIPP-ESAS.
- The Steering Committee (SC) of the PIPP-ESAS.
- The Director of the PIPP-ESAS.
Program Studies Committee (PSC)
The General Assemblies of the cooperating Schools of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering propose to the NTUA Senate the faculty members who constitute the PS Committee. The PSC is established by decision of the Senate, with a two-year term, and is the main governance body of the PIPP-ESAS. Both the Director and the Steering Committee of the Program are elected by the members of the PSC.
The responsibilities of the PSC include the:
- composition of Committees for the evaluation of applications of prospective postgraduate students and the approval of their registration in the Program,
- teaching assignment to the PIPP-ESAS lecturers,
- recommendation to the Senate of amendments to the decision establishing the EDPMS, as well as the extension of its duration,
- composition of committees for the examination of the postgraduate theses and the appointment of a supervisor per thesis,
- ascertation of the successful completion of the studies, to award the title of PIPP-ESAS,
- approval of the PIPP-ESAS annual financial report.
By decision of the PSC, it is possible to transfer certain responsibilities to the Steering Committee.
By decision of the NTUA Senate, the Program Studies Committee was established, following the provisions of the Special Protocol for Cooperation between the Schools of Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. For the two-year period 2026-2028, the PSC consists of:

Steering Committee (CC)
The SC is composed of five faculty members who have undertaken teaching duties at the PIPP-ESAS and are elected by the PSC for a two-year term. Chairman of the SC is the Director of the Program.
The responsibilities of the SC include the:
- preparation of the annual budget of the Program and any amendment thereafter, given that there are substantial resources in accordance with article 84, and the recommendation for approval by the NTUA Research Committee,
- preparation of the annual financial report and the recommendation for its approval to the PSC,
- approval of the expenses of the PIPP,
- recommendation to the PSC for the assignment of teaching duties,
- recommendation to the PSC for the invitation of Visiting Professors to cover potential teaching needs of the Program,
- preparation of any modification of the curriculum, which is submitted for approval to the PSC,
- recommendation to the PSC for the redistribution of courses between the academic semesters, as well as issues related to the qualitative upgrading of the curriculum.
The following PSC members are appointed as members of the Executive Committee for the two-year period 2026-2028:

Director of the Program
The Program Director is a member of both bodies, the PSC and the SC, elected for a two-year term. It has been agreed that the Director is a faculty member of the School of Chemical Engineering.
The Director:
- chairs both the SC and the PSC, draws up the agenda and convenes the meetings of these bodies,
- proposes issues concerning the organization and operation of PIPP-ESAS to the General Assembly of the School,
- proposes to the SC and the other governing bodies of the Program and the University issues concerning its effective operation,
- is the Scientific Director of the Program in accordance with article 234 of Law 4957/2022 and exercises the corresponding responsibilities,
- monitors the implementation of the decisions of the PIPP governing bodies, as well as the provisions of the School/University Internal Regulations of postgraduate and doctoral study programs, as well as monitoring the execution of the PIPP-ESAS budget,
- exercises any other responsibility, which is defined in the establishment decision of PIPP.
For the two-year period 2026-2028, Prof. Ep. Voutsas, School of Chemical Engineering, will be the Director of the PIPP-ESKA. In his role as Director, he will also act as President of the PSC and the SC.
