Assignment of Postgraduate Diploma Thesis
The Postgraduate Diploma Thesis assignment can take place after the completion of the second (2nd) academic semester, provided that the postgraduate student has successfully passed at least 80% of the ten (10) courses by that time. The thesis must pertain to the broader subject area of the MSc Program ESAS.
To this purpose the PS must submit an application, in which the proposed title of the thesis and the proposed supervisor selected among the faculty members of the program are noted, as well as a summary of the proposed dissertation. Based on this application, the Steering Committee appoints the supervisor and establishes a three-member Examination Committee for the final approval of the dissertation. The Examination Committee includes the supervisor and other faculty members or Emeritus Professors, or teaching personnel or researchers of ranks A, B, or C, all of whom must hold a doctoral degree. The committee members must have the same or a related scientific specialty as that of the MSc Program discipline. Upon the supervisor’s proposal, the postgraduate student can receive scientific support from researchers with a PhD, PhD candidates, other postgraduate students, and other scientific collaborators from NTUA or invited lecturers outside NTUA. Additionally, members of the Special Teaching Staff, Laboratory Teaching Staff, and the Technical Laboratory Staff can participate in the laboratory support of the Thesis, where necessary. The titles of all MDs approved by their Examination Committee must be posted on the website of the School of Chemical Engineering.
If the thesis is not completed within the 3rd academic semester, it may be continued in the subsequent academic period, following a relevant request by the supervisor to the Program Studies Committee.
Writing
The Postdoctoral Diploma Thesis should be written according to the template specified by the Program Studies Committee. The thesis is submitted electronically and must include an extended summary in Greek (2,000 words), a table of contents, and bibliographic references.
Evaluation Procedure of Postgraduate Diploma Thesis
The assessment and grading of the Diploma Thesis is carried out by the three-member Committee, based on uniform evaluation criteria established by the Program Studies Committee. The final grade of the Master’s Thesis is calculated as the average of the three examiners’ grades on a scale from 1 to 10 and is rounded to the nearest half point, with a minimum passing grade of 6 (six).
After the approval of the Thesis, the postgraduate student is required to submit an electronic file of the thesis to the NTUA Central Library and electronically submit the thesis file to the NTUA Central Library’s Digital Repository (dSpace).
